Maiko and Dave Wilkie established Perth English Academy in 2006. Maiko comes from Japan and has a background in tourism and marketing. Dave is Australian and has a science background He has had a varied career, backpacking around the world, working as a parachute instructor and in various capacities at the University of Western Australia and Curtin University. He has also worked as an ESL teacher at several Perth language schools.
As well as science qualifications, Dave holds a CELTA grade A (top 3%) and TESOL. Perth English Academy prides itself on being the only English language school in Australia to guarantee a grade A teacher!
Both Maiko and Dave love cooking so guests in our home enjoy sensational food. As well as Japanese food we serve a variety of Asian, European and Middle Eastern dishes. Staying with us can be quite an adventure.
Our live-in guests attend school in the mornings from Monday to Friday. Some elect to have additional lessons in the afternoons.
Generally we have only 1 to 3 students so there is a lot of individual attention.
We are also able to provide tuition to external students on an hourly basis. Private individuals attending our premises can receive specially tailored one to one tuition for $45 per hour.
The rate for two to one is $50 per hour. The cost for larger groups and tuition at other sites is $75 an hour.
We continue to provide our English tuition services to Western Power, Ajilon and other corporate clients.
